For me, humility is something that continues to take time to learn.  I catch myself thinking ‘how great I am’, but in reality, I am no better than anyone else around me.  When I think about humility, I think about how I need to learn from my mistakes, and consider my successes to be literal gifts from God.  Even when I am successful, I need to learn, and be humble, because I can still learn how to do it better.

In the scriptures, it is pride that ruined nations.  Pride distracted the people, so that they forgot God, and His power to protect them.  Even in the Book of Mormon, at the end of 1 Nephi 12 (click on this link to go to that chapter), it talks about how pride eventually would bring down the Nephite nation.
