Receiving The Lord’s Eternal Rewards

I am grateful to be living during this time. We are prosperous. I am grateful for the people with whom I associate, because I feel that I am surrounded by good and charitable people.

In the Bible, John the Revelator, one of the apostles, wrote about the events during the last days. He foretold that there would be two churches: the church of the Lamb of God; and the great and abominable church. In the Book of Mormon, in 1 Nephi 14, an angel foretells that John will write about these events. All of these scriptures seem to indicate that, during the last days, there will be more people in the great and abominable church than there will be in the church of the Lamb of God. This angel also says that for us to live during the last days, we need to heed the word of the Lord.

I believe that those who will be in the church of the Lamb of God are those who, in their heart, are good and charitable people. (There are so many people living, and so many people who have ever lived, on this planet; and after reading the above cited scriptures, I feel very fortunate to be surrounded by, what I think are, good and charitable people.)

So, how will one be worthy to be in the church of the Lamb of God? I believe the difference will be in what we do with what we have been given. I have been given miracles. Others have too. Some have not. But, what do I do with what I have been given? Do I keep it to myself? Do I acknowledge God’s hand in all things? Am I charitable, or am I lazy? What am I doing with my life, which is a gift from God, to help others? To me, that is what makes the difference, and it is how I will survive during these last days.

For it is written in Matthew 16: 24-28:

24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

I pray that all who I know, me included, we will live our lives to be worthy to receive the redeeming power of His atonement, and to receive His eternal rewards.

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
