Last Thursday I started writing a lot more regularly in our blog on MDR Ideas.com. Most of the time, I have been writing about what I have read in the Book of Mormon. I have been doing that because I am trying to strengthen my testimony of the authenticity of the Book of Mormon.
I have heard that one’s testimony is strengthened by sharing it. So, I have been sharing it, and I do feel that my testimony has been strengthened. I have found more and more reasons to love the Book of Mormon, and to appreciate what a gift from God that it is.
I will continue to share what I appreciate about the Book of Mormon as I read it, to strengthen my testimony of it even more. I thank God for bringing this sacred book into existence, so I can also have a stronger testimony that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and the Redeemer of the world.
Today, during my reading, I read that the purpose of the Book of Mormon is to bring the truth about Jesus Christ to the Gentiles and the Jews. I am both. On my father’s side, I have both Russian and Hungarian Jews, and on my mother’s side, I have French Catholics and Scottish Presbyterians. So, the Book of Mormon was written for me to read, so that I may understand the divinity of my Lord and Savior, even Jesus Christ.
I am also writing on the blog, so that I may share what I have experienced with others, thereby bringing the truth to others. These deeds are inspired by God, for His purpose is to bring the truth to all people, so that they may return to Him, and have His presence with them always.
Will this happen? Will people come to know God more fully by reading our blog? I truly don’t really know; and for me, what matters most is that I am trying to do the Lord’s work. If I do my best, then He will do the rest. People will come to know the Lord when they feel inspired by the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost will inspire people to believe that the Book of Mormon is authentic, but the Holy Ghost inspires people on His timetable.
So, I will continue to try to write in our blog daily, for my own enrichment, as I read the Book of Mormon; and I will feel confident that God is smiling down at me, praising my efforts to do my best.
For my writing is not about me. It’s about God, and His work. I am so thankful for having known God more fully for over these past twenty-four years, since I met the LDS missionaries in Michigan. Next month, on March 13th, I will celebrate my twenty-fourth birthday: the twenty-fourth anniversary of when I was born of the water and of the Spirit, into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
I am so much happier now than I was then. I know more about the difference between what is right and what is wrong. I have a very sweet wife, Misty, who honors my priesthood. We have been married for twelve and a half years, and were sealed for time and eternity in the San Diego Temple under the restored priesthood authority.
Possessions: I have many, but I cannot take them with me for eternity. I can only take my faith, my wife, my family, and my friends, if they will accept me. I pray that all who read our blog will do so, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
