The gathering of Israel is a common scriptural theme. Last night, it was mentioned in chapter 30 of Deuteronomy; and today, it was mentioned in 2 Nephi 6.
I believe that Israel will be gathered, not necessarily physically, but spiritually. I believe that we will be gathered when we listen to the Spirit and the teachings of the Lord. In the Old Testament, the Lord was Jehovah, and this same person came down to us in bodily form, as Jesus Christ. He did His work, and continues to do Heavenly Father’s work to this day. As the House of Israel believes in Him, and believes Him, we will be gathered together as the Tribes of Israel.
The fact that Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father appeared to Joseph Smith is evidence that Jesus lives today, and He is separate and yet one with the Father. They are one in purpose, as we need to be one in purpose in order to be one house under God.
The Jews have often been spoken of as being the covenant people; but how about when we, for my father’s side is Jewish, they do not obey the covenant? Then, the covenant is in force as a curse, as stated throughout scripture; but when we start obeying that covenant, then the covenant brings forth blessings.
Furthermore, all of those who obey the covenant also receive His blessings, for we are all Heavenly Father’s children, and He loves all of His children equally.
May we do so this day, I pray, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
