Bringing people to a knowledge of their Redeemer is Nephi’s main purpose. To do that, in 2 Nephi 7, Nephi quotes the words of Isaiah chapter 50. In this chapter, Isaiah describes the Savior as the Lamb of God, who has the tongue of the learned, yet He would be smitten and scorned. He did this because He knew that He would be delivered by God. I often think, should we do the same, or was this task reserved only for the Savior of the world?
By the way, the Book of Mormon quotes 30% of the Book of Isaiah, from these versions: the Hebrew Massoretic text, the Dead Sea scrolls found at Qumran, the Aramaic Targumim, the Peshitta, the Septuagint, the Old Latin and Vulgate, and the Isaiah passages which are quoted in the New Testament.
