Many Instances Of Forgiveness In The Scriptures

Recently, and after reading Alma 52, it has come to me how remarkable it is that the Lord’s army still forgives its foes. Their foes keep on trying to kill them, and when the enemy is defeated, the Lord’s army requests that the enemy leave in peace. Instead, they could have sought revenge and killed the enemy. In other parts of the Book of Mormon, the Nephites seek to teach the gospel to their enemies, the Lamanites, even though the Lamanites had killed many of their brethren. Just as it says in this scripture: “Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.” (Matt 18:21-22)
