Resist Evil

We had a nice day at church. In the afternoon, we had the missionaries over for lunch: Elder Swenson, and Elder Kwang.

In Alma 61:14, this is an impressive verse: “let us resist evil, and whatsoever evil we cannot resist with our words, yea, such as rebellions and dissensions, let us resist them with our swords, that we may retain our freedom, that we may rejoice in the great privilege of our church, and in the cause of our Redeemer and our God.”

To me, this means that I should resist evil, that I may be free, which is the privilege of my church. Also, I need to resist even for the cause of my Redeemer and my God. This cause is to spread the gospel. For me, at this point in time, I can resist evil with my word. I do not look forward to the day in which I will have to resist evil by physically protecting myself.
