Christ Ordained His Elders

The Elders and I helped some friends move out of their apartment. To protect my back, I wore my brace. This service project was textbook. It was completed in an hour.

I find that it is wonderful that the Lord’s Church is here upon this earth again; and Joseph Smith really did not originally intend to start another church. He only wanted to know which of the existing churches were truly the Lord’s Church; and he was taught how to form the Lord’s Church. He received this instruction from the Lord’s Heavenly Messengers, from the Book of Mormon (Moroni 3, for example, which teaches about ordaining priests and teachers), and from Divine Inspiration.

I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s Church here upon this earth. I have been a member of this Church for more than twenty four years. I have seen the good that it does throughout the world, and as the Lord said, “Ye shall know them by their fruits” (Matt 7:16).

I know that the Lord started this church, because I believe that He came to Joseph Smith in the Sacred Grove, in 1820. I know that the priesthood that I hold is of divine origin, because I know that Peter, James, and John, gave that same priesthood to Joseph Smith, which was given to them by Jesus. This same priesthood was given to me, by chain of authority. Therefore, I trace the priesthood I hold to the power and authority given by my Savior to the Elders of His Church.
