The Importance Of Witnesses

We had the Empty Nester’s Family Home Evening over at our home. Twelve people attended, including ourselves. We had a nice pot luck dinner. The food was delicious, and Misty made a great dessert: chocolate pillows. They were a hit! We talked about how comfortable we feel with each other, and that maybe we should share our little group with others, by inviting them to come along.

I am impressed by the testimonies of the witnesses who saw the angel Moroni and the golden plates. It is proof that they exist.

Futhermore, the scriptures also talk about the validity of having witnesses prove that God’s miracles exist:

“In the mouth of two or three witneses shall every word be established” (2 Cor 13:1);

“It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true” (John 8:17);

And, one of my favorite verses, after listing those who witnessed many miracles of faith, Paul wrote:

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2).

Here is what I previously wrote about the testimonies of the witnesses: The Testimonies of the Witnesses
