I have chosen liberty and eternal life by obeying the commandments of God (2 Nephi 2:27). Some people say that obeying the commandments is too restricting; but I say that not obeying the commandments is very restricting.
For example, if I do not tell the truth, I am captive to my own foolishness. I have to be responsible for remembering the lie that I told. Although, if I tell the truth, then I am free because I do not have to remember what I said.
I remember that a wise friend once told me that he was not smart enough to lie, because then he would have to cover up for that lie.
There are many other examples of when obeying the commandments frees one up. I am thankful for how I have learned this Divine Principle.
This is what I wrote previously after reading 2 Nephi 2: Disappointment And Discouragement
