This morning, our VP of Software Development fed us Del Taco Steak and Egg Burritos. They were really good!
During my lunch hour, I took my usual walk across the street over to where Wild Rivers / Lion Country Safari / The Irvine Meadows are. (The first two venues are no longer there. Wild Rivers’ last summer ended in September.) I have been talking to a young man who guards the gate.
Today, I offered to bring him a copy of the Book of Mormon, and he said that he would read it! I told him a little bit about what it is about, and he thought that it sounds like a great book! I told him that I have read it twenty-four times. He said his ancestry is probably Native American from Mexico. I explained that the Book of Mormon is the story about the ancestors of some Native Americans, and how they came from Israel, as a lost tribe of Israel; and that they were waiting for the Messiah. There were events which occurred at the time of His birth and death, and that He appeared to the people in America after His resurrection.
I praise the Lord for inviting His Spirit, so I could share this information with my new friend. All the way home I was walking on air!
I was thinking about what I would right on the cover of the Book of Mormon that I give to Octavio. I would write that I know that this book is true. The things that are written in the book really happened. This book was miraculously translated by the power of God, in 90 days! It describes how some Native Americans arrived on the American continent, and that they were visited by Jesus Christ after His resurrection, who taught them basically the same principles which He taught His disciples in Jerusalem. I know that by obeying the principles which are taught in the Book of Mormon, they lead one to happiness. I also know that one can only find out that this book is true by reading it, and then praying to God whether it is true. Then, the power of the Holy Ghost will demonstrate that this book is true, and that it is a gift from God. The Book of Mormon testifies that Jesus is the Christ, the Redeemer of the World, and that by following His commandments, we will be happy, because then we will feel the power of His everlasting love for us.
“Salvation doth not come by the law alone; and were it not for the atonement, which God himself shall make for the sins and iniquities of his people, that they must unavoidably perish, notwithstanding the law of Moses.” (Mosiah 13:28)
“Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified” (Galatians 2:16)
This is what I previously wrote after reading Mosiah 13: Using The Topical Guide To Find Scriptural Passages
