Obeying The Commandments Blesses With Divine Power

This morning, I went to Ward Choir Practice. After that, I went on my three mile walk around the block. Then, we went to church, and performed with the Ward Choir during Sacrament Meeting. During Gospel Principles, I gave an impromptu performance of “Choose The Right”, as requested. It went pretty well.

After we got home, we were home taught. As our home teachers were leaving, we gave them some of our books, for their children to read. We are giving away our books which have not been used for a very long time, because someone else can probably have more use for them. They have just been sitting around, and that’s really not what they’re meant for. As a result, we can use the space for things that we are actually using, like food storage. Later on, a friend came over and we also gave her a box full of books.

While she was leaving, our next door neighbor had an emergency. We think she had a stroke. She was being loaded into the car, and she fainted. The paramedics were called, and she was transported to Mission Hospital. The reason that she was getting in the car was that she was being transported to her daughter’s. We are all glad that this happened now, and not on the way. They are all in our prayers.

Up to now, I have been kind of shy to mention my faith to my neighbors. I am thankful for my faith. The Lord has truly blessed me. I love Him so; and what I think that I need to do is to remember more often how much I love the Lord, and what He has done for me. So much do I love the Lord, that I want to share with others what He has done for me.

One thing that He has given me is His commandments, which have delivered me from feeling insecure. By obeying Him, I feel more secure, and I am more free to make decisions. In a sense, the Lord has delivered me like Alma and Amulek:

“O Lord, give us strength according to our faith which is in Christ, even unto deliverance.” (Alma 14:26)

I also pray that I may have the strength, the courage, and the gentleness, to share how I have been blessed by power from on high, as I have obeyed the Lord’s commandments.

This is what I previously wrote after reading Alma 14:  Dealing With Rude And Obscene Behavior
