A few days ago, three avocados fell out of our tree. So, for lunch, I put avocado on our chicken sandwiches. Also, for Date Night, we had guacamole. I love these avocados. They are so good! We watched ‘Just Like Heaven’. Then, we watched an episode of ‘Reba’. They were both funny shows. I was looking for other shows to watch on Hulu, but I was not impressed with them. The comedy these days is often pretty raunchy.
I love what I was inspired to write the last time I read Alma 61: ‘Resist Evil’. The scriptures cited are in this context:
“Do not see for power save only to . . . preserve the rights and the liberty of my people. My soul standeth fast in that liberty in the which God hath made us free.
And now, behold, we will resist wickedness even unto bloodshed.
We would not shed the blood of our brethren if they would not rise up in rebellion and take the sword against us.
We would subject ourselves to the yoke of bondage if it were requisite with the justice of God, or if he should command us so to do.
But behold he doth not command us that we shall subject ourselves to our enemies, but that we should put our trust in him, and he will deliver us.
Therefore, . . . let us resist evil, and whatsoever evil we cannot resist with our words, yea, such as rebellions and dissensions, let us resist them with our swords, that we may retain our freedom, that we may rejoice in the great privilege of our church, and in the cause of our Redeemer and our God.” (Alma 61:9-14)
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.” (2 Corinthians 10:3-6)
