Yesterday evening, we prepared our home to get our carpets cleaned today, which also helped to organize the clutter that accumulates. We like that! Then, we jotted down some notes about what we wanted the painters to do, because we are having mainly our Frining Room (Front Room / Dining Room), and the stairway walls, painted.
It is kind of interesting how one feels when we don’t have any more obligations. Since I have ‘retired’ from singing with the OCMCO, now I have more free time, and the big question is: what am I going to do with myself? Well, I made that decision so I could do the things that really need to get done, like taking care of my home, so others can be more comfortable when they visit. Making my home beautiful invites the Spirit; and then when people visit they feel the Spirit, and they want to come more often. My home won’t be gaudy, but it will be neat and presentable. Time has flown. We have been here almost two years, and we have not painted, and done the things, that which we wanted to do a couple of years ago.
Misty and I talked more about taking the neighbor’s cat, Lucy, off their hands, because they are moving; but decided against it, because it is better for the cat to be indoors. It is an outdoor cat, exclusively, now, and the outdoors is not cat-friendly. It would be better for Lucy that she be given to the Humane Society, where she can go to a home that can protect her. She and Curly, would not get along well. She is a huntress, and has proven her skillfulness many times, in the short amount of time that we have known her.
“And behold, the heavens were opened, and they were caught up into heaven, and saw and heard unspeakable things.
And it was forbidden them that they should utter; neither was it given unto them power that they could utter the things which they saw and heard;
And whether they were in the body or out of the body, they could not tell; for it did seem unto them like a transfiguration of them, that they were changed from this body of flesh into an immortal state, that they could behold the things of God.” (3 Nephi 28: 13-16)
What a glorious vision did Jesus give these people, and it could only come from God, the Anointed One, even Jesus the Christ. A similar thing happened to the Apostle Paul:
“I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell; God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven
And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.” (2 Corinthians 12: 2-4)
What is this scene that these people saw? Here is a clue:
“And no tongue can speak, neither can there be written by any man, neither can the hearts of men conceive so great and marvelous things as we both saw and heard Jesus speak; and no one can conceive of the joy which filled our souls at the time we heard him pray for us unto the Father.” (3 Nephi 17: 17)
So, evidently, my imagination pales in its ability to conceive of what they experienced, but it was indeed glorious beyond comparison. I pray that someday I may be worthy of such an experience; but, before I can, I have a lot of repenting to do.
This is what I previously wrote after reading 3 Nephi 28: Translated Beings
